The fundamental ideal of Sodalitas is to forgo your beliefs and become something more, fighting for whatever cause deemed necessary by the times in the name of peace. We have no allegiance to any nation’s government, ideology, or philosophy, wherever we are needed we will be there. We will bring fear to the unjust and hope to those with no other recourse. There are those that will see us as criminals, radicals, or terrorists, but we will do whatever is needed to achieve our goals.

Shirvantez grew up in Ul'dah as a refugee with his older sisters, Victoria and Gabriella. Originally from Ala Mhigo, they barely escaped the Garlean invasion, losing the rest of their family in the process.Growing up in the streets of Ul'dah as a refugee was hard as they were looked down on and hated. Work was hard to come by and that led to Shirvantez having to result to small crime to help out his family. This also resulted in him getting in fights with both the brass blades and gangs running the lower levels of Ul'dah. Over the years Shirvantez became a very skilled fighter and grew to an intimidating stature. After holding his own in a fight against a group of brass blades and immortal flames trying to break up the brawl, an immortal flame sergeant by the name of Alwyn visited Shirvantez in jail after he was arrested. He was impressed at Shirvantez’s natural fighting skill and wanted to recruit him into the Almigo Brigade. Shirvantez was reluctant at first but eventually agreed seeing it as a way to help out his sisters. For 8 years Shirvantez was a loyal soldier of the immortal flames for a time, but eventually left growing tired of the politics and corruption of the syndicate. He figured adventuring would pay far better and finally give him a chance to provide a better life for his sisters. He set out and ended up joining the guild in Limsa Lominsa.During a job, Shirvantez came across a young woman surrounded by a group of rough-looking characters. The group was covered in tattoos and had bandannas concealing their faces. The woman was badly beaten up and bleeding from a dagger wound. Seeing this as an unfair fight, Shirvantez intervened, helping hold them off until her comrades came and chased them off. This group happened to be former pirates turned mercenaries known as the Sodalitas. They were rivals of the masked characters and their leader Dagr was the older cousin of the woman Shirvantez saved. Dagar and his cousin Asa were both grateful to Shirvantez and offered him a place in the Sodalitas, seeing his fighting skills as an asset to the group. Shirvantez accepted and for five years, the Mercenaries made a name for themselves as a group that could get things done and never asked questions as long as it was for the right price.They were eventually approached by a man named Alias. He wanted to use their ship to transport cargo claiming to want protection from pirates. They began doing regular shipments for him until one night while out at the sea, they made a horrible discovery, they were shipping slaves. Horrified by this, Dagar vowed to make this right. He freed the slaves on board his ship and promised to help the ones still being held captive by Alias.They planned on infiltrating Alias’s compound, but unbeknownst to them Alias had turned one of Dagar's crew and used him as a spy. Alias ambushed their ship. Although they fought hard, most members ended up being killed including Dagar. Shirvantez and Asa were the only ones left alive. They were both tortured for days and Asa eventually succumbed to her wounds. Shirvantez barely clinging to life was thrown out to sea to die. He was eventually saved though by an elezen fisherman who recognized him. Shirvantez had saved his grandson years back and he took him in to recuperate. Although Shirvantez survived, his body was badly damaged and he would never fully recover. On top of that, Alias framed the Sodalitas as Slavers. Knowing that if found alive he would be a wanted man, Shirvantez fled Limsa Lominsa.He spent months in Coerthas as a drunken recluse. There he heard tales of a brotherhood of knights that had obtained incredible power, a power that could heal his broken body. While investigating he heard rumors of such a knight living in the mountains of Coerthas. Shirvantez spent weeks searching, but to no avail. Ready to give up his search, Shirvantez tracked one last lead which led to him being surrounded by a group of biast. Shirvantez tried to fight them off, but with his injuries, he quickly became overwhelmed. Just then a cloaked figure appeared. Lifting a giant sword with one hand, the mysterious figure wiped out the biasts with a single swing. Shirvantez was awed by the sheer power the cloaked figure wielded. Removing the hood, revealing a man in his late 50s. He had long white hair and glowing eyes. The man approached Shirvantez helping him up. He introduced himself as Arnstein, cautioning him to be careful in these mountains. The man then started to walk off, but Shirvantez stopped him. He asked him to train him, but Arnstein initially refused. Telling his story Shirvantez begged him to teach him how to harness that type of power. Arnstein reluctantly agreed, seeing as Shirvantez would not give up on this request. Arnstein revealed he belongs to an order known as the dark knights and that if he wants to learn their ways, he must agree to their creed. Shirvantez agreed and for the next year and a half, he trained religiously.He learned to channel his aether in the dark arts, he learned to wield the power of the abyss. This power granted Shirvantez strength he never realizes he was capable of. It also not only healed his broken body but changed it in drastic ways, most notably his now glowing white eyes. With this new power also came a newfound thirst for revenge. With a new set of armor, Shirvantez set out to find Alias, leaving a trail of blood in his wake.He discovered Alias belonged to a group of individuals funded by the syndicate for their different business ventures. Taking them out one by one, he eventually found Alias. Shirvantez let his rage consume him and Alias used that to his advantage to not only escape, but discover Shirvantez’s identity.Shirvantez was forced to track him down once again which led him to a dock used by Alias. Just as Shirvantez was about to charge toward him, Alias revealed he had both his sisters. Just then Shirvantez became surrounded by mercenaries. Alias then gave him a choice, save his sister before they die or come after him. He then shoved two swords through both Gabriella and Victoria before hopping aboard one of his ships. Seeing this, Shirvantez went into a frenzy killing the mercenaries without remorse. slaughtering the remaining mercenaries, Shirvantez finally reached his sisters, but sadly Gabriella didn't make it and Victoria had already lost too much blood. As he held her in his arms, Alias turned the ship's guns on the dock. Seeing this as his end he hugged Victoria, waiting for their demise. All of a sudden, the ship began to catch fire and explosions erupted. Shirvantez watched in shock as the ship sank.Not long after that, he saw a figure carrying something, coming out of the water. It was Arnstein dragging a terrified Alias by the collar. Arnstein hearing stories about his bloody crusade, came to check up on him, arriving just in time to stop the ship’s assault on the dock. Arnstein threw Alias at Shirvantez’s feet. Knowing what to do Shirvantez drew his massive sword, but just as he was about to land the killing blow, he was stopped by representatives of the syndicate escorted by brass blades.They stated they were aware of Alias’s involvement with the slave trade and were coming to arrest him for his crimes. One of the representatives approached Shirvantez wanting to shake his hand and offer payment for Alias’s apprehension. Shirvantez slaps his hand away saying that he doesn’t want his money, only to clear the names of his comrades and promising if he finds out that the syndicate had any involvement that he would not rest until they’re all hunted down. The brass blades took up arms hearing the threat, but the representative motioned them to sheath their weapons. He thanked Shirvantez once again and told him he would make sure that they were all exonerated of the crimes. Taking Alias into their custody, the syndicate members and brass blades quickly left.Shirvantez walked back over to Arnstein who was trying to heal his sister, but the wounds were too severe and she would soon pass. Tears in his eyes, Shirvantez held his dying sister, apologizing for what happened to them. Smiling his sister told him that she didn’t blame him and asked him to promise her that he would always be a force for peace and protect Eorzea. Shirvantez agreed and with her final breath told him she loved and would always be there watching over him.Shirvantez buried his sisters on a cliff looking over Ul'dah under a bed of his sister’s favorite flowers. Standing there with him, Arnstein asked Shirvantez what he will do now. Shirvantez stated that he would continue training, honing his skills, and gaining power. With that power, he would keep the promise of his sister. Shirvantez tells him he's going to build an organization to bring true peace to all of Eorzea. Intrigued by this bold claim, Arnstein asks what he'll call this organization. Looking up at the sky as he thought about his fallen comrades, Shirvantes says Sodalitas.
